How it all began...

Sterling Hornoi, owner of Hornoi Leasing Ltd. and Sterling Truck and Trailer Sales Ltd., hasn't always sat in the owner's chair. In fact, in the early days, his chair was behind the wheel of a semitrailer truck, which he drove from 1959-1965. He then dabbled in the used truck business until 1973, when he opened up his first business; Sterling Truck and Trailer Sales Ltd. "In the fall of 1973, I was down east and there was a rail strike in Canada at the time. I was coming back from Toronto and I noticed all the leased equipment, rental trailers on the highway and I thought it would be a good thing to get into Saskatchewan," said Sterling.

As fate would have it, when Sterling got back to Regina, a Fruehauf trailer salesman was in town. They talked and Hornoi bought his first three rental units for $1,800.00 down. By October 1974, he had taken delivery of 20 highboys and 10 vans. Today, our lineup of equipment includes tandem axle tractors (day cabs or sleeper cabs), single or tandem axle straight trucks with van bodies, single axle reefer trucks, 1 ton cube vans, flat deck trucks, picker trucks, dry vans, refrigerated vans, storage vans, flat deck trailers, and low boy trailers. Through Hornoi Leasing Ltd., daily and long-term leases are offered to North American companies or private individuals.

We have units across Canada and also make units available to customers who may have their truck tied up for a long period of time for repairs or servicing, or for those individuals who may not want to go to the expense of buying a unit. All equipment leased meets current safety standards and certification. For added convenience there are staff members available 24 hours a day, if a customer should need a rental for any emergency that may occur. To meet the demand in the northern Saskatchewan mining industry, Hornoi Leasing opened up a Saskatoon office in 1979. Together, the two leasing firms make up one of Canada's largest leasing operations, right here in Saskatchewan.
